Ramadan 19

Today's Quote:

It is related on the authority of Ayesha (RadiAllahu anhaa) that

"The Messenger of Allah (salla Allahu alayhi wa sallam) observed I’tikaf in the last ten days of

Ramadhan, till the end of his life.

After his death his wives continued with it."

(Saheeh Muslim #2640)

To learn about itikaf and how to observe it

Activity 1:

Learn about itikaf through the following ahadith and articles:

1. Saheeh Muslim, Book of Fasting, (2636-2642)

If you have the commentary/footnotes, read those as well as it /theycontain useful information.

If you do not have access to ahadith books, see Ramadan 16 for details as to where you can view or download Saheeh Muslim or Saheeh Bukhari, insha Allah.

2. Concerning the Itikaaf

Activity 2:

Make an Itikaf poster on the Mosque Border Paper.

Use the 5W's to tell the Who, What, Where, When, How, and Why of Itikaf.

(Use Text and/or pictures)

Activity 3:

Ramadan 19

What is the purpose of itikaf?

How and where is itikaf observed? (for men? for women? Is there a difference?)

Have you ever observed itikaf? If so, write about what it was like.

If not, ask (interview) someone who has observed it to tell you what it was like.

Write about their response.

Activity 4:

Duaa said after a gathering

‘How perfect You are O Allah, and I praise You.

I bear witness that none has the right to be worshipped except You.

I seek Your forgiveness and turn to You in repentance.’
