Daily Activities for Ramadan

Ramadan 13

Topic:

Eating at Someone's House During Ramadan

Today's Quote:

If someone is invited to break his fast

then he should respond to the invitation.

If he refuses

then he has disobeyed the Messenger

(salla Allahu alayhi wa sallam).

Goal:

to learn/review eating etiquette

To learn the duaa for your host when eating at someone’s house

Activity 1:

You may get invited to someone’s house during Ramadan,

especially during the beginning or near the end.

Review eating etiquettes with Talibiddeen Jr’s Illustrated Eating Etiquette guide

Activity 2:

What is a host? What is a guest? Look/up and discuss.

It is recommended for the person invited to supplicate for his host after finishing eating his food as was the practice of the Messenger (salla Allahu alayhi wa sallam).

Learn a duaa for your host.

Here is one below, but there are others:

‘May the fasting break their fast in your home,

and may the dutiful and pious eat your food,

and may the angels send prayers upon you.’

(Hisnul Muslim)

see www.makedua.com for Arabic text, insha Allah.

Activity 3:

  Dramatic Play:

Simulate going over to someone’s house and eating a meal.

Take turns being the host and the guest and say the duaas.

Activity 4:

Journal:

Ramadan 13

Have you already gone to someone's house for dinner during Ramadan?

If so, write about it.

If not, write about a dinner you went to in a past Ramadan.

OR

Write about someone's house you would like to go over for Ramadan.

OR

Have you had someone come over for Ramadan dinner this year?

Activity 5:

Duaa said after a gathering

‘How perfect You are O Allah, and I praise You.

I bear witness that none has the right to be worshipped except You.

I seek Your forgiveness and turn to You in repentance.’
